Work colleague is having a hard time of things atm.
A single mother with kids, her 15 year old son was arrested for theft on Friday (this time it's serious) and went awol for the weekend.
She was with the police at his school on Monday morning when he turned up, as if nothing was wrong.
She says he needs a short sharp shock as she can't cope with him anymore.
I think the same - but more importantly he needs a male role model. Someone he can look up to, and someone he can "bond" with.
It's what's been lacking in his life, and it would make all the difference to the lad.

While I agree that short sharp shocks are quite often the answer I cannot agree with the needing a male role model.
As a single mother of three my Son has turned out a grand man with a family of his own, he was no angel and had his moments, but I can honestly say that the lack of a 'Man' in his life did not affect him adversly. In fact I would say the opposite, quite often young lads react adversly to the appearence of a male and it could have the opposite affect to the one desired.
Perhaps what he needs is a purpose, something to fill his time, maybe a job, working for a member of the family?
